Yesterday’s class was with a guest from Hong Kong. She is traveling Fukuoka and enjoy shopping. She took many cooking class overseas. We made sushi rolls because yesterday was “Setubun” The literal meaning of the word Setsubun is “division of the seasons,”Back in the day, the Japanese new year started on Risshun (The first day of spring). Eho-maki are thick sushi rolls which is believed to bring good fortune if eaten while facing the year’s “Eho” (good luck direction). I hope she enjoys staying Fukuoka.
